Frequently Asked Questions for PICZ
What is PICZ?
PICZ is a launchpad for start-ups: we help you make your idea into a socially-minded venture, for nonprofits and forprofits. More info in our bplan.
What's the difference between a Fellow and a Member? Fellows have access to team-building sessions and special mentoring relationships, and must commit to a minimum of four out of the six weeks of the Institute. Members can come and go as they please, and have access to two members-only sessions a week with leading social, cultural business and hi-tech members. Both rock equally.
How long is the Summer Institute? The 2007 Summer Institute will last from June 18-July 31--but membership is fluid and dynamic. Resident fellows are expected to attend for a minimum of four weeks.
Where is the Institute located? In Jerusalem, smack dab in the middle of the action.
How much does it cost? Tuition in the Institute is free for Fellows and Members, money wise--we just want your time. And your brain. While we cannot offer to cover flights at this point, the Institute will provide housing to 4 resident Fellows, and the Institute can help Fellows and Members find housing solutions at low rates
Wait, does that mean I could live in Jerusalem for a whole summer on your tab? You betcha--if you're a Resident Fellow. Non-resident fellows can participate in all activities, but might have to pay a bit for lodging.
What if I work? Since we know that If there is no bread, there's no Torah, Fellows and Members are free between 9am-5pm. There will be wifi-galore, so if you can telecommute, or work in the Greater Jerusalem/Tel-Aviv area, you should be all set!
Does that mean Israelis can apply too? Can Apply? We want you to apply! Israelis and Israel-residents are more than encouraged to apply--the key for the Institute's success is to bring together the best minds of Israel and the diaspora. And since the Institute's schedule is focused on afternoon/evening activities, participating in the Institute will not conflict with your job!
When is the application due? Applications for Membership are still open--and we're still looking for Israeli fellows so y'better Act fast.
